Like most things in life, there is generally a good reason for water pipe bursting…
Q Why do I have Noisy Pipes?
A. Quick closing valves The banging of the water lines is referred to as water hammer. This is caused by what are called ‘quick closing valves.’ These types of valves can be found in toilets, washing machines and dishwashers. A way to stop the banging is to install water hammer arrestors or correctly insulate the pipework within the walls.
Strapped too tight – Water and drain pipes can make noise if they are strapped tight to surfaces. When the pipes are heated, cooled, expand or contract, it causes noises in walls, floors and ceilings as they adjust themselves. To avoid this, we install a moveable insulation around the pipes where they go through the wall posts etc. This allows sufficient movement with a noise insulation.
